AREA OVERVIEW

KCXO-SectionConroe-North Houston Regional Airport (formerly Lone Star Executive Airport) is located underneath the northwestern outer shelf of the Houston Class Bravo airspace, 22 miles north of Houston George Bush International Airport. Its proximity to metro Houston, The Woodlands, Lake Conroe and the surrounding community make it a prime hub for business, executive, and personal GA travel. With two runways, a control tower, multiple instrument approaches, and an adjacent Class A convention center, KCXO provides the perfect location for MODAERO and the best that general aviation has to offer.

GENERAL INFO

  • Runway 1/19 will be closed during the entire show schedule for aircraft parking and ease of movement.

  • Upon contacting the tower at Conroe-North Houston Regional, be sure to identify yourself as “for MODAERO” to assure that you are directed correctly.

  • All aircraft must be able to maintain two-way radio communication to land at KCXO during tower hours of operation. “NO RADIO” aircraft must utilize other area airports.

  • In the event that aircraft parking becomes full at Conroe-North Houston Regional Airport, a notice will be broadcast on the KCXO ATIS alerting pilots to the condition. At that point, aircraft intending to land at KCXO for MODAERO shall divert to other area airports at pilot’s discretion or be directed to other parking options. ATIS will advise the need to divert to other area airports.

Securing Aircraft – Due to the number of aircraft expected for MODAERO, special parking areas have been designated throughout the airport and expo grounds. ALL aircraft are required to bring chocks and soft-ground tiedown gear.

Participating FBOs – Three fine FBOs will be providing support at KCXO—Galaxy FBO, General Aviation Services, and Wing Jet Center. These FBOs can support attendee arrivals and departures and provide fuel and service needs. No special arrangements are needed with these FBOs for your arrival at the MODAERO Festival, pilots need only follow the arrival procedures in this document and follow ground instructions and marshallers. NOTE: For non-camping arrivals parking at the FBOs, a shuttle will be provided to the MODAERO Festival Grounds upon request.

Parking Fees – Ramp/parking fees vary based on FBO. With fuel purchase, many (if not all) parking fees can be reduced or waived. Please consult with your FBO of choice for details.

Fuel Discounts – The participating FBOs are graciously providing fuel discounts to MODAERO attendees. Details are available upon request from each FBO front desk. Be sure to reference your attendance at MODAERO to receive the discounts, only valid March 16-19 during attended business hours.

Runway Lighting – KCXO has a pilot-controlled runway lighting system; activate on 124.125 during non-tower hours.

Fuel – During business hours, both 100LL and Jet A are available for purchase via line service at the three FBOs on the field. After hours self-serve 100LL and Jet A are available using any major credit card at General Aviation Services.

Rental Cars – Rental cars are available by reservation at all three FBOs. Providers at Galaxy FBO and Wing Jet Center are Hertz and Enterprise, while General Aviation Services provides Enterprise and Budget. All rental car reservations must be made at least 72 hours in advance.

Courtesy Cars – Although courtesy cars are available at the FBOs, festival attendees are requested to leave them accessible for regular business travelers. They may be available on a first-come first-serve basis in emergency situations for festival attendees.
