The Drone Experience
Open to All MODAERO Attendees – March 16-19, 2016
Never flown a drone before? This is your opportunity to learn about drone safety, responsibility, air maps, regulations, maintenance, and local groups. Once you understand drone knowledge, you will then fly a drone in a controlled (netted) environment with an expert on hand.
Drone Demo Sessions
Open to All MODAERO Attendees – March 16-19, 2016 – Drone Demo Zone
These sessions will give live demonstrations on FPV racing, film and photography, DYI makers workshops, and a buying guide. These sessions will be hands-on with lots of opportunities to meet experts/pilots and ask questions.
FPV Drone Racing
Pilots (Only) – Incredible racing at an incredible value – just $59.00 for all FPV activities listed below!
Please note, all MODAERO attendees will be able to watch the races for free!
MODAERO 500
Team Competition – March 17-18, 2016 – Rodeo Stadium
It’s the return of F3Expo’s ThunderDrone 500, Texas style! Teams of 3-5 work together to land, power off/on VTX units, swap LiPo’s, and take off again until all laps are completed (think endurance format). The teams with the fastest crafts, best pilots, solid pit strategy, and streamlined team management will compete in the finals for a chance to win the inaugural MODAERO 500!
MultiGP Texas Regional Series Qualifier
Individual Competition – Saturday, March 19, 2016 – Rodeo Stadium
Saturday brings your chance to qualify for the MultiGP Texas Regional Championships (June 2016) on a MultiGP sanctioned course. This exclusive race consists of the regional most laps qualifier format: Two rounds of practice and five rounds of competition. Race winners will be determined by laps accumulated in the five competition rounds.
Houston Open
Individual Competition – March 17-18, 2016 – Rodeo Stadium
An exciting course inside the Lone Star Convention Center featuring aviation and Texan themed obstacles while the best FPV pilots battle it out for multirotor supremacy. Classification includes: 4″ Props, 5″ Props and Open divisions.
Amateur Open Class
Individual Competition – March 17-18, 2016 – Rodeo Stadium
Newbies unite! This is an opportunity to recognize pilots new to RotorSport; open to pilots who haven’t hit a podium or final-8 in a grand scale event.
Invitational GoPro Race
Individual Competition – Friday Night March 18, 2016 – Rodeo Stadium
Pilots who place high in early qualifiers of the Houston Open and/or Amateur Open race on the course. Requirements: Open classification quadcopter with an on-board GoPro or equivalent capturing 1080p @ 60fps.
